Elizabeth Coachman

Elizabeth grew up outside of Chicago prior to studies at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and Rutgers University in New Jersey. Her artistic endeavors went on hold while she obtained a MD at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and practiced pathology in Florida for 20 years. After her retirement, her husband Mike introduced her to Newfoundland in 1999, and they have returned so often they bought a summer home in Portugal Cove-St. Philips in 2005. She paints local landscapes here and prints her etchings and mezzotints at St. Michael's Print Shop in St. John's in the summer. In the Winter they return to their ranch in Florida where she has her own printing and painting studios. Her subjects range from landscapes to visual puns. She has won a number of awards in Florida and has exhibitions both in the United States and Newfoundland.
