Carl Stevenson

Carl was born in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland in 1939. He is a Memorial
University graduate with a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Education and a
Masters of Science. Studied under an exchange scholarship at Heidelberg,
West Germany during 1960-61. He is a gift musician and a member of the
Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra.

Showed an interest in sketching at an early age, started water colours at 8
and oils at 12 years of age. Early art instruction came from the artist's
father. Since then Carl has developed his art primarily through
self-instruction and development of techniques both in media and
colour/composition.

Collections: Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Memorial University
of Newfoundland Permanent Collection, Workers Compensation, Newfoundland
Power, N. C. Hutton Ltd. and private collectors in Newfoundland, across
Canada, United States and Europe have Carl's paintings.

In June 1983, a commissioned oil painting by Carl was presented to their
Royal Highnesses, The Prince & Princess of Wales, at Harbour Grace as a gift
from the people of Harbour Grace.

In 1986-87, the artist produced four water colours for the Canadian Cancer
Society of Newfoundland which were used in their Christmas Card Campaign.

Retired from teaching, Carl devotes his time between his love of family, art
and music.
